I work full time as a veterinarian and I don’t have any paid family leave at all.
My partner has a chonic disease, and is disabled. I provide all her care, and transportation to doctors appointments.
She has lupus, and her platelets are always low. If this gets worse, she could be in danger of spontaneously bleeding to death; she would need someone with her. I'd have to choose between being there for her, or having a paycheck to be able to pay medical bills and our mortgage.
