$400 of food. $10 in pay. No tip.

An Uber Eats driver in Seattle shared these screenshots showing a massive food delivery order — a nearly $400 "King's Experience"... for which he got paid just $10.

No tip.

No hazard pay.

No paid sick days.

But essential?

Uber takes at least 15% of the food subtotal from the restaurant, so about $60 for this order. (Seattle City Council set a cap on this percentage to support restaurants.) Plus they also got whatever they charged the customer in delivery fees & service charges.

But for the worker? Uber Eats isn’t offering hazard pay. They don't provide paid sick days. And they're not providing adequate safety protections to workers. So the person who did the work got just $10.

This is why we're calling for emergency action to require these gig apps provide:

  • Paid sick days

  • $5/delivery hazard pay

  • Safety supplies like gloves, masks, and sanitizer
