The International Franchise Association is withdrawing their lawsuit against Seattle’s $15 after losing not once, not twice, but thrice!
This means fast food workers in Seattle will reach $15/hour on January 1, 2017 — little more than 6 months from now pumping billions of dollars of new spending into the local economy.
The franchise association first tried to get an injunction against Seattle’s $15 by a district court judge — it didn’t work. Then they tried an appeals court. Nope. The US Supreme Court said “thanks, but no thanks.”
We know that a higher minimum wage is good for workers. Period. Everyone should be able to support themselves, afford the basics, and contribute to the economy. The entire community benefits as well. After all, more people with more money means more customers for more businesses.
