Washington State's minimum wage may be the highest in the country, but $9 and change isn't enough for people to support themselves, afford the basics, and contribute to the economy.

It was $9.19 last year, right now it’s $9.32 and it will go up a little bit next year. It's good that we have a minimum wage law that tries to keep pace with the cost of living, but it falls short.

Seattle and SeaTac workers fought for and won a $15 minimum wage. Workers in Bellevue, Olympia, and beyond are rising up because they know we need a statewide minimum wage that’s enough for everyone to meet their basic needs.

If we want an economy that works for everyone we need to make sure that our minimum wage is enough so people can actually support themselves.
