Business types get flexible with the truth on secure scheduling
Faced with overwhelming support for secure scheduling from workers, voters, elected officials, and even executives, big business lobbyist types are getting a little desperate.
There's just no honest way to convince someone that their hours ought to vary wildly from one week to the next, or that flexibility should always work to the benefit of companies, but never in the opposite direction. So the business lobby has no choice but to show off the ultimate flexibility: they're getting flexible with the truth.
From one side of their mouth they tell elected officials they’re pretending to speak on behalf of their employees (shock message: everything’s perfect and everyone’s in a million-way-tie for Boss of the Year). Then they try to convince those employees that involuntary part-time hours and totally unpredictable unstable schedules are actually good for them because... well because because. There’s no reason whatsoever.
So they just make things up.
Has your employer tried to lobby you about secure scheduling too?
